Exercise Alchemy

Designing Exercises for the Dance Classroom

6 Week Live Virtual Course
Beginning July 10th

Have you ever jumped on a forum or Facebook group to ask your peers about what the best exercises are for improving turnout? Improving leg extensions? Improving turns?

Social media can certainly be a great resource, but it doesn't always give you the answers you're looking for. You are relying on other people to see your post and give you an appropriate response. Let's face it, researching this way is just generally unreliable.

Your next option is hiring an exercise specialist or a dancer who specializes in exercise science to help you figure out the right exercises for your students every time you're struggling. It can be hard to find the right person who understands dance AND has a strong background in exercise design. Aaaaaaaaaaaaand...it can get very costly to keep hiring someone.

Instead, imagine you were able to design your OWN exercises to meet your students at THEIR level by providing them with an adequate challenge while keeping exercises achievable. What would that mean for your teaching? Your career?

You'd never have to run to Google or social media again and cross your fingers that someone has a new exercise idea that is EXACTLY what you were looking for. I mean, what were the chances, right?

Instead, in just a few steps, you'd be able to design an exercise that's tailor-made for your students--at their level and for their specific needs.

How do I get there?

You're in luck! I've just created a course that will help you do exactly that.

In this course, you'll learn how to...

  • Analyze movement

  • Identify target muscles

  • Identify necessary muscle contractions

  • Design strengthening & mobility exercises

  • Modify exercises to incorporate motor control concepts

Be able to provide exercises for whatever your students need...

Gone are the days of researching different exercises to help your students. Instead, you'll have all the knowledge and resources you'll need to design your own.

Imagine having the skill to design your own exercises in class. It'll make lesson planning a breeze!

Not only will this be a huge help to your students, you'll also be able to use this as a tool to negotiate for higher pay, teach masterclasses at other studios, and help your fellow teachers.

You could even start teaching private lessons and be able to give your students the exact exercise they need to develop their skills as a dancer.

This course is truly invaluable.

Take your teaching to the next level with my 6-week Exercise Alchemy course.

Hi, I'm Ginger!

I'm a professional dancer, dance educator, and physical therapist. I've been dancing my whole life, even before dance "classes." I received my BFA in Dance from the University of Michigan in 2012, and I've now been practicing  physical therapy for 8 years.

I developed my 6-week Exercise Alchemy course to provide an opportunity for dance educators to level-up their teaching skills to help their students transform into extraordinary artist-athletes.

What are people saying?

"Ginger is a phenomenal teacher who provides a ton of knowledge and insight. I appreciated being part of her carefully crafted Exercise Alchemy course and I gained a lot of applicable information that I can take into my every day lesson planning! She's approachable, kind, and makes learning really enjoyable."

MEGAN W / DANCE INSTRUCTOR

JENNY M / DANCE INSTRUCTOR

"Working with Ginger gave me the tools to connect the dots with what I have learned throughout my dance, Pilates, and fitness journey. The program is structured to help to understand the what, the why and how to develop exercises for both class and individual settings. While I continuously reflect on how I can better engage and train my dancers, I felt like something was still missing. I am so excited to head into the new season feeling refreshed and having replenished my 'tool box' to further challenge my dancers. I highly recommend this program!"

"The quality of instruction given in this course was 100% amazing! Ginger did a fantastic job explaining, making class fun and interactive, asking us questions to keep us engaged and involved, and being extra prepared for each and every class!"

STUDENT B / DANCE BFA CANDIDATE

"I wanted to extend my appreciation to Ginger for a great semester! I really enjoyed her class with the content we covered, and also the real-life applicability of it. Now that I know how to cross-train and which exercises to do, I feel confident that I will keep up with it, and ultimately become a more well-rounded dancer!"

STUDENT C / DANCE BFA CANDIDATE

"Really grateful for this informative class! Ginger has always been so caring, and it's quite evident to see how much she cares for the topic and just wants others to share her love and knowledge. Having the class formatted in a way that I can take it at my own pace was really appreciated as I had a lot going on, and making it to class in person wasn't feasible for me. So grateful, thank you!"

STUDENT A / DANCE BFA CANDIDATE

"Ginger offers solutions to your individual needs as a dancer/mover/human being. Her knowledge and gentle advice offer long term action plans that are easy to follow on your own. No question is too silly, no request ignored. A myriad of adaptations fit unique needs and bodies. She is a pleasure to work with and an inspiring role model."

LESLEY C / DANCE INSTRUCTOR

  • Are the classes in-person or virtual?
All Live classes are currently virtual using the Zoom platform. Once you sign-up for the course, you'll be added to the class roster and given a link to a Doodle Poll. This will help us determine a day and time that works well for all registrants. Once a day and time are decided, you'll then receive an email with a Google Calendar invite that will include a Zoom link.
  • How can we learn about strength/conditioning and dance science effectively if it is taught virtually?
As many of you know by now, while not ideal, dance and movement training can be taught effectively through virtual platforms. I have been teaching both kinesiology courses and dance classes virtually since early 2020 with excellent results. Just ask my students!
  • What days/times are the Live classes?
This will be determined via a Doodle poll to see what day and time work best for everyone. You will receive a link to participate int he poll upon registering. Weekly classes will take place at the same time and on the same day of the week throughout the course.
  • What if I can't make the Live class times?
All Live classes will be recorded and accessible through the website. If you're not able to make it to the Live class times, feel free to check out the website to keep caught up!
