FAQS
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
The short answer is NO. Divergent Physical Therapy has chosen to operate independently of the typical provider-insurance relationship due to the restrictions it places on decision-making when it comes to patient care. Divergent PT’s founder values being able to make decisions in the best interest of the patient, not in the best interest of the insurance company.
CAN I SUBMIT A CLAIM TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY?
Absolutely! All receipts for rendered services include medical coding for easy submission to your insurance company for reimbursement. We also provide common claim forms so that you don’t have to waste time searching for them!
DO I NEED A PRESCRIPTION?
NO! In the state of Michigan, you can be seen for physical therapy under “direct access” laws which state that a patient can be seen for up to 10 visits or 21 consecutive days, whichever comes first. Beyond this period of time, you will need to retrieve a prescription from your primary care physician or specialist. Divergent PT therapists can also help you obtain a prescription from the physician of your choice, making it easy for you to both get care sooner and continue care as needed!
WHAT IF I HAVE MEDICARE?
Unfortunately, if you are enrolled in Medicare, Divergent PT is unable to treat patients for a “medically necessary” diagnosis but can be seen for wellness visits as needed.
WHAT IS A WELLNESS VISIT?
Wellness visits are opportunities for clients to receive comprehensive injury prevention assessment and the development of a personalized exercise program to address areas of weakness or imbalance. Wellness visits are not meant to address current injuries or functional deficits but can be used to review or refresh home exercise programs from prior physical therapy treatments.
HOW LONG ARE APPOINTMENTS?
Your initial evaluation and each additional session last an hour unless otherwise specified (based on your condition). This includes all hands-on work, therapeutic exercise instruction, and other wellness education.
YOU TRAVEL TO MY HOME OR OFFICE. WHAT KIND OF SPACE OR EQUIPMENT DO YOU NEED FROM ME?
Divergent PT therapists travel with their own equipment including a portable massage table for all necessary aspects of treatment. Massage tables are approximately 30" x 73", so a room should be able to easily hold this size table with plenty of space to move around it. Home gyms are not required but appreciated!
